I was really looking foward to the new album months before it was released. I was dissapointed though and was hoping for some heavier tracks with a lot more solos. I waited 8 years for a new AC/DC album and got "Black Ice".

It's a good album overall b nothing to say" This is AC/DC at their best". The tracks that stand out for me are: "Smash N'Grab, Decibel, "War Machine", Black Ice and Rock N'Roll Train", "Spoilin For A Fight" is good too but the rest off the tracks should have stayed off of the album.

This cover band that put out this new original song has the right idea but the wrong singer or the singer is trying too hard to sound like Brian Johnson. I think he sounds similar to Brian back in the early days sorta.....but maybe not. I was hoping for "Black Ice" to sound more along the lines of this and even heavier like "Flick Of The Switch" or "Who Made Who" or "The Razor's Edge".

This is not a great song by any means but at least something along the lines of AC/DC for a change that is new to listeners.

Rock music seems to be dying off and there are no bands really out there that sound like AC/DC posted on youtube or any other social media for the mass public.

What happens when AC/DC retires in the next few years? Then what? A world full of Justin Bieber fans and other crap? I have seen Justin Bieber's house in Newport Beach and this guy is loaded. He even has a house for his parents next door to his house.

The band members of AC/DC are getting older and I don't see any other bands coming out that sound like this band or even remotely in the last few years. Rock N'Roll has kinda slowed down and doesn't seem to really have anything new to add lately. I don't know.....it would be great to hear some new bands along the lines of AC/DC or bands that just rock instead of having to listen to the same old stuff.

You know what. When AC/DC retires they have a left a legacy behind them. Bieber wont, and besides i think his career can be over earlier than theirs. He has mostly child fans, and most people grow up eventually.
But the future of Rock nRoll aren“t bands like these who try to sound exactly like AC/DC. If i want to listen to AC/DC i listen to AC/DC and not a band that are trying to replicate them in every way.

I have ZERO respect for copycat bands and this clearly is one.

AC/DC is AC/DC because there is no other fuckin AC/DC!!!

They have their own sound/style and you can always tell its them. If I want AC/DC, I listen to AC/DC.

I'd almost mention Airbourne as a new AC/DC like band but I honestly have to put them close to copycat status. Even the names of songs are too close for comfort. That said, they do have original stuff and they can rock and have great energy.

As for comments on the industry as a whole, I can see the point. Alot of the modern bands that play "hard rock" are too much of a cross between scream your ass off and whiny teenage punk sound. No solos, just does not work for me though I can get into some of the songs.

I would not necessarily call them modern but the newest band I like is the Dropkick Murphys. They are not for everybody and most here probably would not like them. I like the Irish and hard rock mix and while there is no AC/DC sound to them, the song structure can be similar in some cases (solos/verses/hook lines, etc), the band has huge respect for AC/DC and their guitar techs always sound check using the rare AC/DC stuff like Walk All Over You and Night Prowler before they start their shows. They cover IALWTTT and TNT. No they are no AC/DC and don't try to be but they are unique and paved their own way to success. Nobody really sounds like them. As a young guy who was not around in the early AC/DC days, their live shows feel to me like a 70's/early 80's live AC/DC show in terms of energy. They are very enthusiastic and put out 100% effort the entire time. AC/DC is still the same way but lost alot of the edge of the early days.

Sorry for the tangent but thats why I respect any band. No good band has ever gone out there and became popular by taking somebody elses shit and trying to replicate it exactly. AC/DC took what was relevant from other artists and adapted it into their own and developed over time. The bands I gravitate towards are similar.

If you are looking for the next great rock band, its not the band that sounds exactly like AC/DC and you would not want it to be!!! It will be a band that puts their own unique twist to things and you hear it and say "hey thats cool". Is that not how we all got into AC/DC?

Nevermind this Bieber crap or any other shitty modern boy band. History shows that none of them have ever left any legacy.

Krokus is another replica band to AC/DC, and probably the most successful.

The link doesn't work anymore. Anyone remember the name of this band? I think the song might have been Time Machine.

@ Penguins........The name of the band is AB/CD and the lead singer has performed in a few bands(Therion is a band he sang in earlier) and has an amazing vocal range. The name of the song I posted is called "Mikey's Butt".

This song is pretty good....

This band is good and just performed at the Whiskey- Go-Go here in Los Angeles last week.

No worries!grinning smiley

77's a pretty good band and I dig this live performance. The lead guitarist tears it up on stage.
